Storm warning for KZN overnight
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
Residents living in the southern parts of KZN can expect severe thunderstorms, with possible hail later this afternoon.
The South African Weather Service has issued a storm warning - particularly for the uMgungundlovu and eThekwini regions.
The service says rain is already falling in areas south of Durban - including Sezela, Amanzimtoti and Umkomaas.
While there is currently a northeaster of between 10 and 17 kilometres per hour in eThekwini and surrounds - forecaster Aslam Sardiwalla says the gusts are expected to pick up in the evening - to a speed of about 44km per hour.
"A little bit later, there is also a possibility of severe thunderstorms to reach Durban, possibly by this evening - but that's if they continue on the same track. Further on for the rest of the evening we are expecting a bit of showers to continue overnight along the coast, with storms tending to ease off by the evening, and showers will continue into tomorrow morning," he said.
