Storm Eloise: Eskom moves to keep SA lights on

Contingency plans are in place by Eskom in anticipation of Mozambique tropical storm Eloise which is predicted to hit parts of northern KZN this weekend.
In a statement it says the storm will hit most parts of Mpumalanga, where most of its power stations are situated.
Meanwhile KZN COGTA has put disaster management teams on high alert and issued warnings to residents in the uMkhanyakude, King Cetshwayo and Zululand districts to be cautious of severe heavy rains.
South African Weather Services warns of a high chance of disruptive rains - which can lead to widespread flooding and infrastructure damage.
Storm chaser, DJ Hefer from Storm Report SA has been keeping a close eye on the storm's movements.
"The main impact will be widespread flooding of roads and danger to life because fast-flowing streams and displacement of affected communities", he said.
"Also there is likely to be damage to properties, buildings, livestock, bridges and disruption to essential services", Hefer said.
