#StopC19Corruption demonstrators call for end to corruption
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Scores of South Africans have taken to the streets yesterday to support the #StopC19Corruption campaign.
Here in KZN some gathered in areas including Merebank, Chatsworth, Morningside and Pietermaritzburg clad in orange masks. The campaign is expected to take place every Friday.
Healthcare worker Fatima Docrat joined the protest in Morningside.
"Corruption affects all of us in so many ways, it propagates poverty and social ills. I think about my grandson and how I want him to grow up in a rainbow nation country and this has not happened as expected", she said.
Eddi Naidu, also from Morningside says the local government and the President need the citizens' support.
"The people involved in corruption must end up in prison because they are affecting the poorest of the poor", he said.
