Petrol costs dropped by R1,32 a litre at midnight on Tuesday, while diesel users are now paying between 88 cents and 91 cents less per litre.

Many consumers faced a cost of living crisis when fuel prices spiralled out of control this year.

"It's pointless because it's going to drop by 1 rand and go up by two rand more,” said one Durban motorist about the latest adjustments at the pumps.

Another man said if it went down to R20 or R19 it will be better.

A woman said she absolutely hates the sky-high fuel prices.

”I used to work six days a week, now I work three days because it's too expensive. It costs me more to get to work than what I make.

Another motorist said the price hike is hectic.

"It's costing me twice as much as I use to fill for the week. The price drop is not significant enough, from R18 to R26 rand and then down by R1, it's still too much."
