Steenhuisen: There needs to be limit to no-confidence motions
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
DA leader John Steenhuisen believes there needs to be a limit to the frequency of no-confidence motions if South Africa is to make a success of coalition governments.
The DA has recently lost power in Johannesburg through a no-confidence motion.
It's facing a similar situation in Ekurhuleni.
At briefing on Thursday afternoon, Steenhuisen said his party wants to see well-structured coalitions to ensure stability.

He says Parliament needs to step in and draft the necessary legislation.
"If coalitions are to be the future in South Africa, then Parliament needs to take the necessary legislative steps to ensure that they are stable and able to deliver.
"Many other countries have done just this, and are governed by successful, stable coalitions."
