State Capture Inquiry to hear Booysen testimony on top NPA officials
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks boss, Johan Booysen says when he testifies before the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture - in weeks to come - that he'll expose the roles of NPA bigwigs - including KZN DPP Moipone Noko in capturing South Africa's prosecutorial body.

Booysen has filed an affidavit in the Durban High Court - in support of an application to have the contentious racketeering charges against him and members of the Cato Manor Organised Crime Unit - dropped.
He alleges a series of irregularities in his prosecution and - in particular - the 2016 decision to reinstate the racketeering charges - which had two years earlier been set aside.
In his affidavit, Booysen says minutes from a 2012 meeting between then Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa and prosecutors - show how the minister 'wielded pressure' to have Booysen and his colleagues arrested.

He’s also labelled the information that was in 2016 provided to then national DPP Shaun Abrahams - ahead of his reinstatement of the racketeering charges - false, incomplete and misleading and pointed to the omission of important documents, including a report penned by advocate Nazeer Cassim - which cleared Booysen of all internal charges.
In addition, Booysen’s raised issues with a statement by former police reservist Ari Danikas which Abrahams has said helped sway his decision to prosecute.
