Stage 4 load shedding until Saturday
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Eskom on Monday pushed load shedding up to stage 4.

The power utility's spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, says stage 4 will be in place until 5am on Saturday.
This comes after the power utility had eased the rolling blackouts from stage 6 the previous week.
On Sunday, the utility announced the easing of load shedding to stages to alternate between stage 4 and stage 3 until Thursday.
"Due to increasing demand, combined with insufficient generating capacity, and the need to manage the emergency reserves. Unplanned outages increased from 15 386MW to 15 424MW of generating capacity."
“In the last 24 hours, 500MW of generating capacity was taken offline whilst, in the same period, 600MW were returned to service. Approximately 1 300MW of generating capacity is anticipated to return to service by Tuesday evening.”
