Spotters deployed to ensure no sales of liquor after cut-off times
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Police Minister says there'll be spotter on the ground to check if establishments are adhering to the newly gazetted regulations regarding the sale of alcohol.
The regulations ban the sale and consumption of liquor at shebeens, bars and restaurants after 6pm on weekdays and 1pm on weekends.
Speaking at another briefing today, Minister Bheki Cele said they'll be keeping an eye out for law-breakers.
As from today we are appointing spotters who will be in these places, especially those places that sell food and alcohol.
Citizens can take the liquor home to consume there.

Cele says they are aware this could lead to a spike in domestic violence cases and are prepared for such.
"If people drink at home, the home abuse might increase. So we are putting our fcs unit in all our police stations to be able to respond to any abuse at home," he said.
