Sports dept to meet with FIFA officials

Sports Minister, Fikile Mbalula says his department and government officials are willing to work with world football body, FIFA to clear the country's name amid bribery allegations.
Mbalula yesterday reiterated his stance that the 10 million dollars paid to the African Diaspora in the Caribbean was paid in good faith and not as a bribe to host the 2010 World Cup.
He says the ministry, government and the SA Football Association have nothing to hide.
"We are ready to meet with them in the next coming weeks to clarify all the issues with regards to the organising of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We will explain to them how it happened, at what level decisions were taken.
"In our view, these decisions were taken with the legal framework even within FIFA's including the finance committee that finally transferred these funds to where they actually belong," he said.
Mbalula also told a media briefing in Parliament yesterday that the Gupta family has nothing to do with him holding his position.
