Special payment relief in line for Ethekwini Municipality customers in arrears
Updated | By Newswatch
eThekwini Municipality customers who are in arrears because of the lockdown are in line for special payment relief.

The Executive Committee has today approved a tabled report detailing the plan.
The report outlines a plan to reverse the total interest raised - if a customer with a debt of 90 days or older - pays 50 percent of their arrears on or before 30 June.
The remainder of the debt will then be put on a payment plan.

But if a customer on this payment plan defaults - the interest will be reinstated.
According to the report - the City's collection rate before the lockdown was between 95% and 105%.
It says this rate plummeted to 56% in April - which is the lowest ever collection rate for eThekwini.
