SPCA pleads for urgent donations
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Durban and Coast SPCA is making a desperate call for animal food.
The branch says it only has about one week's worth of pet food in supply. Spokesperson Tanya Sleischer says they normally receive around 100 animals per week and urgently need people to donate dog and cat food.
"Since the increase in VAT and the petrol price hike everybody is struggling financially", she said.
"Everyone who used to help us with donations is feeling the economic pinch and so we are no longer gertting as many donations as we used to", Sleischer said.
She says people wanting to drop off food can do so at the Springfield branch.
Monetary donations can also be made online.
