South Coast robber begins 15-year sentence
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A South Coast man has begun serving a 15-year sentence after assaulting a 91-year-old Park Rynie resident during a house robbery earlier this year.
The man was convicted and sentenced in the Scottburgh Regional Court yesterday.
S'busiso Chiliza pleaded guilty to charges linked to housebreaking and robbery.
Police say two suspects broke into the home the man shared with his disabled daughter, demanding money and computers in April.
The KZN Police Commissioner has welcomed the sentence, saying this should deter crimes targeted to vulnerable women, children and the elderly.
