South Coast man in court for murder of his niece (2)

A south coast suspect will today appear at the Izingolweni Magistrates Court, for alleged the murder of his two-year-old relative.
The 24-year-old man handed himself over to police on Tuesday, after he set his family home on fire with his mother, sister, and his 2-year-old niece inside.
Police say the two women and toddler were relaxing in the home in the KwaNyuswa area when the suspect locked them inside.
Spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the suspect faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

The suspect had a five-litre container with petrol and he poured it all over the house where the victim was sitting with her family.
He locked the house with the victims inside and set the room alight however they managed to escape with injuries.
They were taken to the hospital for medical attention. The 22-month-old child later passed away in hospital due to burn wounds that were sustained.
