South Coast community comes together for Ramsgate Festival
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A community-run festival in Ramsgate - now in its fourth year - returns to the South Coast town in August.
Artists, comedians, authors and poets from around the country will be displaying their best work at this year's Ramsgate Book and Art Festival.
Event co-founder, Barbie Meyer says since its inception, the event has given the local economy a boost.
Meyer says this year's newcomers include journalist and Sunday Times Bestseller author, Ndumiso Ngcobo while the work of established painter, the late Errol Boyley will be on sale.
"One of my favourites is Ndumiso Ngcobo. His books are entitled Some Of My Best Friends Are White and Is it Coz I’m Black? - he's such a colourful character and he is going to be with us. Rob Caskie, an amazing storyteller and explorer of note, Riaan Manse will also be with us. The featured authors all have different slots and their talks are free," Meyer said.
The festival runs between 2 August to 5 August. For the full programme of the event, follow this link.
