South Africa's Covid-19 deaths surpass 50 000

South Africa's passed the tragic milestone of 50 000 Covid-19 related deaths.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says 84 more people diagnosed with the respiratory disease - have lost their lives - taking our death toll to 50 077.
Daily coronavirus infections have dropped to their lowest level since May.

More than 12 700 tests were conducted in the last 24 hour period, which produced over 550 positive results.
More than 1 and a half million people contracted Covid-19.
Our recovery rate remains steady at 94.5 percent.
More than 73 000 frontline health care workers have received the Covid-19 vaccine.
As the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases in SA is 1 513 959 with 566 new cases identified. Regrettably, a further 84 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported which brings the total to 50 077 deaths.
