South Africa's COVID-19 death toll passes 18 000

South Africa's coronavirus death toll has hit another grim milestone.

One hundred and sixty-five more people, who contracted COVID-19, have died, taking the country's total number of fatalities to 18 028.
The Health Ministry says in the last 24 hours, KwaZulu-Natal's COVID-19 death toll increased by 50 to 3 056.
Over 1 100 new infections have been recorded, bringing the number of cases identified since the outbreak to over 694 000.
Our recovery rate remains steady at 90% - more than 625 000 people have beat the virus.
