South Africa's coronavirus death toll up by 188

One hundred and eighty-eight more people diagnosed with coronavirus have died, bringing South Africa's COVID-19 death toll to 16 586.

One hundred and seventy-eight of those deaths were registered in the Free State, in the last 24 hours.
The Health Ministry's explained there'd been a two-week delay in the reporting of fatalities there, as the province had been verifying data with Home Affairs.

The number of cases identified in the country's climbed to over 671 000 - after an increase of 903 new infections in the last 24 hours.
KwaZulu-Natal accounts for 17% of cases overall, with more than 2 600 deaths.
Our recovery rate remains steady at 90%, with over 604 000 recoveries.
