Crowds gathered in Pretoria, Durban and Pietermaritzburg - demanding that the State Capture Report, which investigates the Gupta family's undue political sway, be released.

Coinciding with former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela’s last day in office last month - the report was scheduled for release on 14 October. In her final briefing, she said she would honour the President's urgent court application to oppose this and hand the document over to her successor.

In a surprise move today, the President's legal team withdrew the application to prevent the release of the report. The report will be officially released - as ruled by the North Gauteng High Court today - in the next hour.

Here's a look at the mass gatherings that took place across the country.

Below, former anti-apartheid activists have criticised the current leadership, saying there's no place for corruption in the country's democracy. Together with civil society groups, they converged at the Gugu Dlamini Park in the Durban CBD.

A sea of red could be seen as Malema addressed thousands of his party members at Church Square, saying they knew the President would withdraw the court bid to interdict the report.

Earlier today - being lead by Mmusi Maimane - DA supporters met at Princess Park before marching towards the High Court in Pretoria ahead of proceedings.

Meanwhile in Pietermaritzburg, members of the public held placards reading 'Save South Africa' this morning.
