'South Africans must stand up for democracy'
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
An organiser of a group calling for President Jacob Zuma to resign is urging South Africans to stand up for themselves and their future generations by signing The People's State of the Nation petition.
Shane Pillay spoke to Newswatch ahead of today's Parliamentary debate on a motion to impeach Zuma.
He says South Africans must stand up for their democracy.

"Our president is supposed to bring unity into the country but unfortunately there's been a lot of divisive issues, division within the ANC itself.
"We are not targeting the ANC and we are not targeting anybody but we can take back what is supposedly ours. All we're asking for is the president should be recalled or he should step down," he said.
The Constitutional Court last week found that Zuma violated his Constitutional duties by not implementing the Public Protector's remedial action on Nkandla.

The president apologised on Friday saying he never knowingly violated the Constitution.
Pillay says they're planning a walk from Durban's Blue Lagoon to Suncoast Casino next month demanding the President be recalled.
