Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa is among the delegates who have flown to London to try and secure the rights for the country to host the tournament for the second time.

South Africa is up against France and Ireland to host the international showpiece.

SA Rugby's Tsholo Kubheka says the country's bid has been positioned on an economical injection into South Africa perspective.

"We believe it will add a good, economic impact into the country. Our economic impact [projection] is at R27-billion for the duration of the tournament. Remember, the South African government underwrites R2.7-billion for the tournament so it means they [stand to] get an investment 10-fold back into the country," he said.

The host country is expected to be announced later this year.

South Africa hosted the tournament in 1995, with the Springboks beating New Zealand in the final in Joburg.

The Boks won the title for the second time in France in 2007.

The 2019 Rugby World Cup takes place in Japan.
