South Africa turns to Mozambique for power
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
South Africa is turning to its neighbour Mozambique as government looks to urgently add megawatts to the national grid.
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says the high winter demand puts increased strain on the system.
Speaking during a briefing on Friday afternoon, he said additional power would be coming soon from Mozambique.

"When we were there on Monday with the Minster in the Presidency and my counterpart in Mozambique and a number of state players in the Mozambican energy eco-system, they did indicate we will be offered about 80 megawatts and in the next six months we will get about 1 000 megawatts.
"We are concluding the discussion with our counterparts, so we are confident of getting that."
