South Africa reaches 12 million Covid-19 vaccinations

South Africa has reached a milestone surpassing the 12 million mark in the administration of Covid-19 vaccinations.

As of Sunday, 12 021 608 adults have received at least one Covid-19 jab, with over 5.6 million adults now fully vaccinated.
Gauteng continues to be the leading province with regards to vaccinations.
Meanwhile, statistics released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) show that the number of new daily infections in the country has decreased.

A fewer number of 7 740 new cases were recorded in the 24 hours up to Sunday evening.
This represents a 17% positivity rate.
Covid-19 related deaths continue to increase with 134 fatalities recorded in just one day.
The national Covid-19 fatalities now stand at 81 595.
