South Africa will be pledging $1.3 million towards the global fight against the COVID-19.
President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement at a global response pledging conference on Monday, which pulled in $8 billion from world leaders, philanthropists and celebrities.
The funds will be used for coronavirus research and the development of a vaccine.
"Now, more than ever, the world needs solidarity and cooperation to mobilise and guide investments, and drive delivery towards equitable access for new COVID-19 diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines."
Ramaphosa also pledged the services of the country's Biovac Institute to support global efforts to develop a vaccine.
