At Port Shepstone Secondary School, presiding officer Alexandra Reddy says they have had few such incidents.

"We are experiencing the issue of people from different districts coming to vote in our district, meaning that they do not stay within our ward and they are coming from different wards to vote.

"In that case there is not much we can do expect advise the voter that they should go to the ward they below to and cast their vote there. In the case where they changed their address and it's not showing on the system, there is a form for us to fill."

At the time Newswatch spoke to Reddy, she said under five percent of the over 2400 residents registered to vote there had so far come out.

On the south coast residents in Izingolweni have come out in their numbers to cast their ballots.

They say they hope their votes will bring water to the impoverished area, as their taps continue to run dry.

Presiding officers at the voting stations in the area say so far there have been no issues, other than a slow start to voting day.
