Drag race assault: suspects identified
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Five people have been identified in the case involving apparent drag racers who assaulted a Chatsworth man at an Umgeni Road petrol station.
A video of the attack went viral on social media with many people calling for justice to be done. 33-year-old Kuben Pather could be seen being kicked to the ground by about half a dozen men
Pather opened a case at Sydenham SAPS a week ago and police launched a man hunt for the suspects. The police’s Thulani Zwane confirmed that the men have been identified.
"A statement has been taken from them and the docket will be taken through to the public prosecutor for a decision," he said.
"No one has been arrested as yet as we have only taken warning statements from the five that have been identified," Zwane said.
