Solution will be found for 'Fees Must Fall': Zuma
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
President Jacob Zuma says government is confident that a solution will be found to the calls for free higher education.
Zuma was responding to a request by a member of the National Council of Provinces, for higher education be prioritised over a proposal to move parliament to Pretoria.
Zuma says while government supports the right to protest, he hopes the demonstrations do not have a negative impact on matriculants.
"You cant also say this is the demand I make and I am not going to stop until it is met. In life you negotiate. You give and take. You consider many things and as government we are saying, that's what we have been doing, this why we are engaging all stakeholders. I just hope that this is not going to interfere with education that much," he said.
Earlier this afternoon, Zuma said he did not believe his court bid to stop the release of the state capture report will have an impact on the ratings agencies' decisions in December.
Zuma says he is merely exercising his legal right.
