Solidarity Fund accumulates over R500m

The Solidarity Fund has managed to collect over R500 million since it was launched over a week ago.

The fund was set up to help fight the spread of the COVID-19, to care for those who are in hospital, and to support those whose lives are disrupted by the virus.
It was announced by the President last on Monday.

Chairperson of the Solidarity Fund, Gloria Serobe explains.
"The intention here is not to accumulate the funds so much because it must work. We not quite excited about what we have collected."
"The money must go to where it should go - we have just over R500 million at this point, and it is a week we are in operation."
