Collins Khosa was assaulted last month for allegedly drinking liquor in his yard.

His family approached the High Court - asking it to clearly set out how officers and SANDF members should conduct themselves during this period.

Khoza's relatives say they want to spare other families the pain of losing loved ones through brutality.

Judge Hans Fabricius has also ordered that all the Johannesburg Metro Police Department members who were at or near Khoza's home on the day of the incident - must be suspended with full pay - pending an investigation into their alleged involvement in the tragedy.

He says the respective authorities must within five days develop and publish a code of conduct and operational procedures to be followed by members of the SANDF, SAPS and metro police departments in their duties during this state of national disaster.
