Sodwana Bay Guest House policy not racist: Owner

The owner of the controversial Sodwana Bay Guest House on the north coast says its accommodation policy is not racist but rather the will of God.

Speaking to East Coast Breakfast, the establishment's owner Andre Slade says there is a hierarchy among the different races.

''God made somebody to serve him and God made somebody to serve the people who serve him. 


According to the Torah, which is the first five books of the bible incidentally, we have certain rules that we have to stick to and certain things that we cannot do which is going to cause a problem which is where we sit right now," he said. 


The guesthouse was thrust into the social media spotlight last week when it emerged that it does not accommodate blacks or government officials.


A screen shot of an email from Slade rejecting occupancy to a prospective customer caused outrage and went viral online. 


Slade says their stance is outlined in a book called 'Where to From Here: Cognition'.


''It is not an easy book to read and it touches many, many things that offend people. The reason why the book hasn't taken off is because it does offend, but it is compiled entirely on God's will,'' he said. 


The KZN Provincial Government has vowed to get to the bottom of the issue.  The SA Human Rights Commission says it may launch its own investigation into the venue.
