Family describes slain deputy principal as dedicated teacher

Teaching and learning will be temporarily suspended at Laduma High School in Pietermaritzburg today.
Pupils and staff will be paying their respects to history teacher, Priscilla Mchunu, who was shot dead while teaching a matric class on Saturday morning.
Mchunu - who'd been a teacher for 26 years - had recently taken on the role of acting principal.

have been receiving trauma counselling.Mchunu’s younger sister Zanele has told Newswatch that Priscilla was the family’s pillar.
"She had a good heart and a smile on her face at all times. She was helpful to everyone whether she knew you or not. She was dedicated to teaching children and wanted to see her pupils succeed. That's why she was teaching during a long weekend. She wanted the learners to have a bright future," she said.
Mchunu will be laid to rest this weekend.
