Skills training likely answer to unemployment: MEC
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Special skills training could be the answer the unemployment in South Africa.
That is the view of KZN’s Economic Development MEC Sihle Zikalala. He says the key to eradicating poverty is to train people to do a job that allows them to earn a living. The manufacturing, mining, agriculture, tourism and automobile sectors have been identified as having the greatest capacity to create employment opportunities.
Zikalala - who had been speaking at the launch of the Mahindra assembly plant at Dube TradePort, north of Durban yesterday - says this will also help attract foreign investment.
"Together with our entities we will continue to work to attract more investors to the province. There are those providing training and this helps become there is job creation in that", he said.
"However at an economic level we feel as KZN we are positioning ourselves as the gateway to Africa", Zikalala said.
