Six people have been killed in an alleged incident of mob justice in Lady Frere in the Eastern Cape.

Police spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana says members responded to an alert by a community member about four young men being burnt alive in an open veld in the Zingqolweni on Wednesday.
He says as they were processing the crime scene, a second report came in about two more bodies of men who were found hanging in a nearby forest.
Kinana says another man managed to escape the attack and was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention.
He says the motive for the murders of the men, who are aged between 21 and 27, is not known at this stage.
No arrests have yet been made.
