Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The six people who died in a crash outside uMzimkhulu were all members of the same family.
Their vehicle collided head-on with a truck on the R56 in Clysdale on Friday afternoon.
One other person was seriously hurt.
KZN Transport MEC Sipho Hlomuka has again urged road users to be vigilant and respect the rules of the road.
"On behalf of the provincial government, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Tenza family. It is unimaginable how can one family lose so many members in one accident. We are calling on road users to behave responsibly," Hlomuka said.
The department's Kwanele Ncalane said the family will be assisted.
"Government in this incident will make that the families are assisted and will soon be dispatching a team that will be engaging the family to make sure that we are able to assist the Tenza family during this difficult time."
