Six gunned down in Umlazi mass shooting

KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating charges of murder after six people, including a 14-year-old child, were shot and killed at Umlazi, south of Durban.

The shooting took place at the Zamani informal settlement at U-section on Saturday night.
Four people died on the scene.
Two passed away on arrival at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Jay Naicker says two of the victims were women.
"The scene was attended to by the provincial task team as well as police from Umlazi.
"Information at the scene from residents in the area indicate that the six individuals were involved in criminality in the area and it's suspected that they were killed by their rivals in that informal settlement."
