SIU given green light to freeze KZN NLC official’s bank accounts
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has been given the go-ahead to freeze four bank accounts linked to a National Lotteries Commission official in KZN and his wife.

Sibonelo Vilakazi allegedly approached daycare centres and football clubs in the province to apply for grant funding from the commission.
SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says after they are approved for funding and the funds are paid out by the commission, large sums of money would be transferred into bank accounts linked to Vilakazi and his wife, Nosipho Zuma.
"A report by the Financial Intelligence Centre states that 05 ZZET Enterprises received multiple electronic fund transfer payments from several care centres and football clubs of approximately R 32 259 707.00"
The SIU has been granted a preservation order to freeze approximately R2.4 million, pending the final determination of civil action to be brought by the unit.
