It follows yesterday's historic ruling by the South Gauteng High Court, allowing mine workers suffering from silicosis and TB to institute class action against South Africa's gold mining companies.

Spokesperson for the campaign, Anele Yawa, says the Constitution will never fail the poor people.

"Greedy people can fail the people but the constitution and the justice system will always be on the side of the people," he said.

"Also it shows that all these evils that these mining companies have been doing to the mine workers is something they have inherited from the apartheid regime and now we are trying to readdress that history," Yawa said.
