Shots fired during armed robbery at Pavilion Mall
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
An armed gang has robbed a jewellery store at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Westville, opening fire as they got away.
It's understood five men in balaclavas stormed the store about half an hour before closing time at the busy mall this evening.
The police's Nqobile Gwala says the men, armed with pistols and a rifle, were after money, but when they found none they took jewellery and fled.
"When they were about to exit the mall, they came across security guards and shots were fired. Fortunately no one was injured. They fled the scene in a white VW Touran," she said.
No arrests have been made.
