Shop security guard shot after telling suspects to sanitize
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Three men have been arrested for the attempted murder of a security guard after they allegedly refused to sanitize their hands before entering a store.

The group had resisted prior to entering a hardware store in the Osizweni area of Newcastle.
The police's spokesperson Jay Naicker says the men got into a brawl with the security guard and subsequently shot him.
It's alleged that the security official struck one of the men with a pick handle during the altercation.

"The suspect then pulled out a firearm and shot the man. He was rushed to the hospital where he was treated," said Naicker.
The three suspects fled from the scene, they were later traced to the Newcastle Medi-clinic where they were arrested for attempted murder.
