The 22-year-old's burnt body was found in a veld in Lyndhurst, north-east of Johannesburg last month.

Her boyfriend's has been arrested for the crime.

Mokoena's spiritual mother and guidance coach, Dr Adele Tjale says the abuse of women cannot be allowed to continue.

"I am livid for many, because we are making it a norm. It cannot be a norm. This thing of every other woman dying, or women are slipping...Where are the fathers that can stand in a society of South Africa and say no more," says Tjale.

Mokoena's friend, Nosizwe Dube says she was a dreamer and a great imitator.

"She laughed wholeheartedly, with all of herself...we shared so many memories, so much laughter, so much growth," says Dube.

Another friend, Neo Mutlabane says she didn't realise it would be the last time she would see Mokoena alive.

"At the end of the night she said to me 'I love you'. Little did I know it would be the last time that I would see her," says Mutlabane.

Mutlabane says Mokoena spoke to her about her abusive relationship.

"I had known what had happened...we sat in the car and I could see there were only a few bruises and scratches left.

"I remember she sent me a text saying she had seen her ex and she told me she was not ok. I called her later the week and she said 'eish' and then she hung up. I knew something was wrong," says Mutlabane.
