Sharp decline in SA’s number of COVID-19 related deaths

The number of COVID-19 related deaths has dropped significantly to eight fatalities, the lowest figure in months for new deaths.

Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that the Free State and Gauteng were the only provinces in the country which recorded new Covid-19 deaths for the latest period.
Both provinces recorded 4 fatalities each.

The report that was released at the end of the Easter week end on Monday evening, shows that the cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 now stands at 52 995.
Furthermore, the cumulative number of Covid-19 recoveries now stands at 1 478 088, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
