A Blacktip Reef Shark bit a driver just off the coast of Shelly Beach on Friday morning.
Mi7 National Group's Emergency Medical Services were at the scene.
"Mi7 medics were standing off at the Shelly Beach Ski Boat Club when its tower controller informed them of the attack."
According to Mi7 the 26-year-old man was conducting a chartered dive at the time of the attack.
"When the patient arrived back to shore, Mi7 medics found he had sustained serious bite marks to his arm.
"He was quickly stabilized and transported to a local hospital."
