Shaka's Rock residents 'not happy' with ward councillor
Updated | By Zongile Nhlapo
It's believed yesterday's protest in Shaka's Rock north of Durban has to do with the community's dissatisfaction with a ward councillor in the area.
Protesters blockaded the R102 and N2 between KwaDukuza and Ballito with burning tyres and rocks. KwaDukuza Municipality's Sifiso Zulu says the councillor's house and car were also set alight.
He says a meeting was then held by municipal officials and representatives from the protesting community.
"What we do understand is that protesters have got issues with the current ward councillor and his candidature for the forthcoming local elections. So it's a matter that will be handled at that party level it's not related to service delivery," he said.
