Sex for marks scandal hits UniZulu
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The University of Zululand says it has begun the process of gathering evidence and other information as part of its probe into yet another scandal.
Allegations surface recently of students who have been receiving higher marks from some lecturers in exchange for sex. Spokesperson for the university, Gcina Nhleko, says they only became aware of the claims last week adding that some people are already being questioned.
Nhleko has described the allegations as very serious.
"It is still premature for us to comment at this stage as information is still being gathered," she said.
"However, I can assure the public that the moment we have comprehensive information or when we have made inroads we will meter out necessary action," Nhleko said.
