Severe thunderstorms with possible flooding are expected on Friday afternoon in parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 2 weather warning.
"Severe thunderstorms which may lead to localised flooding, damage to infrastructure of formal/informal settlements and loss of livestock are expected over the northern parts of KZN from this afternoon."
Forecaster at the Weather Service, Stacey Colborne, says the warning has been issued for the northern parts of the province.
"This will include places such as Newcastle, Ulundi, all the way down to Richards Bay and all the way north to Vryheid, Jozini, Sodwana Bay. The whole northern area we are expecting severe thunderstorms for today."
The weather warning comes as Eskom intensified load shedding from stage 2 to stage 4 from Friday at 2pm until Saturday at 5am.
Stage 2 will be implemented thereafter until Monday at 5am.
