Several eThekwini beaches shut due to strike

eThekwini Municipality says several beaches have been closed due to a strike at the KZN Sharks Board.

It says because of the strike - only a number of beaches will have their shark nets maintained by the board.
Here's a list of the beaches that are closed:
- Westbrook, Umdloti, Umhlanga 2nd Beach
- Ansteys /Brighton
- Isiphingo, Warner, Pipeline, Umgababa and Winkelspruit
- North and South Beach and all other district 10 beaches.
Municipal officials have apologised for the inconvenience and have urged bathers to not swim at any of these beaches where safety gear has been removed.
Umhlanga Main Beach and Toti Main Beach remain open to the public.
