Seven more UKZN students expected in court this week
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Seven more UKZN students are headed to court this week - following more violence at the university's Pietermaritzburg campus.
Police say three students were arrested on Friday night, after a computer lab was set on fire. They also allegedly threw stones at security guards.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says another four were taken into custody yesterday morning.
He says the students have also contravened a court order obtained by the university against any violent protests.
"The seven students will be appearing tomorrow at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court. The police are still in the area monitoring the situation," he said.
Zwane added that police also received information of petrol bombs allegedly being made in some student residences.
"As a result police proceeded to search the residence for the petrol bombs, but could not find anything," he said.
