The police's Thembeke Mbhele explains the charges.

"The ones arrested on Friday are facing charges of attempted murder, negligent driving as well as the possession of dagga. There were others arrested for impersonating a police officer. Two suspects were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. They will appear in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court," she says.

She says additional officers remain in the area.

"We want to assure community members that police are there and they are going to make sure that the community is safe in the area and surroundings," she says.
