Service delivery protests disrupt traffic on the M19
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
Motorists in Durban are being advised to avoid the Umgeni Road interchange at the M19 towards Quarry Road - as there's protest action in the area.

About 200 protesters have barricaded the roads with burning tyres and stones - apparently over service delivery concerns.

eThekwini Metro police's Sibonelo Mchunu says the situation is calm, but authorities will remain on the scene.
"Our law enforcement agencies are responding to it. We advise motorists to avoid the M19. However, if they are already on the road, we advise them to cooperate with officers on the field," he said.
