Bongani Ntanzi approached the court with his bid for bail in October.

He is among the five men accused for killing the former Bafana Bafana captain at the Vosloorus home of singer Kelly Khumalo in 2014.

Ntanzi has argued that at the time Meyiwa was shot, he was working at a mine in Carltonville.

Judge Aubrey Ledwaba says Ntanzi failed to provide enough evidence.

"In this case before me having considered the evidence before me I am satisfied that the applicant is not discharged the onus to prove exceptional circumstances that exist and that it would be in the interest of justice to grant bail. The application for bail is dismissed."

Meanwhile, the judge who’d been presiding over the Meyiwa case is facing suspension.

The Judicial Service Commission says it’s looking into complaints Tshifhiwa Maumele and fellow judge, Nomonde Mngqibisa-Thusi have failed to deliver numerous reserved judgements.

The JSC says it has asked the Chief Justice to appoint a Tribunal to consider the complaints. The commission has also written to the President, recommending that the two judges be suspended pending the outcome of the process.
