Ramnarain was convicted of culpable homicide last month.

He lost control of his vehicle on the M4 near Durban North and crashed into two cyclists, Richard da Silva and Jared Dwyer, in February 2016.

Da Silva and Dwyer's loved ones took to the stand in aggravation of sentence earlier.

Richard Da Silva's partner of 26 years, Sonja Ferreira and Dwyer's mother, Lee both took the stand to tell the court have they have been affected by their loved ones' deaths.

Ferreira described her life as a nightmare she cannot wake up from.

She told the court no one should have to say goodbye to someone under a silver blanket on the side of the road.

Lee Dwyer spoke of her son's charity work and that she could never forgive Ramnarain.

They've asked for the maximum sentence.

Ramnarain's advocate, Murray Pitman has asked for a wholly suspended sentence.

Ramnarain also addressed the court, asking for forgiveness.
